The Rusty Rooster

One of my favorite, festive drinks for the holiday season is nicknamed “The Rusty Rooster” in our family. The “recipe” is pretty simple.

Directions

  1. Mix together in a cocktail shaker and serve neat in a small glass.

  2. Alternatively, the ingredients can be mixed in a small glass, then served with a couple cubes of ice (my personal preference), which slowly melt and dilute the concoction – in a good way.

  3. Garnish with orange zest curl and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • ½ – 1 small blood orange, juiced (small regular orange works here too, or even tangerines/clementines). Use as much as you’d like… I like mine heavy on the orange.

  • 1 – 1.5 oz. White Port

  • 1 – 1.5 oz. Red Vermouth

  • 1 curl of orange zest
